Welcome to Golf Instruction with John Rogers

John Rogers started at Lakeview Golf Club (Harrisonburg, Virginia) as an Assistant Professional in 1995. He began teaching in 1996, and became a full-time Teaching Professional in 2001, building a base of clients in the Shenandoah Valley.

In 2007 he launched this website as a source of information about instruction and golf programs at Lakeview Golf Club. In 2009 John became the Director of Instruction at Lakeview and added a second website for his golf articles under the banner Golf Things Considered. This website has been expanded in 2011 to include a Tip Sheet with helpful hints and drills for golfers seeking to improve their games.

Both websites, and the time he spends daily with clients at Lakeview, are dedicated to everyone who loves the game of golf.

A Note from John

As fall comes to the Valley, I want to thank you for another great season at Lakeview. The summer was full of lessons, club-fittings, junior camps & events, and a few tournaments that benefited great causes like the Wounded Warriors and Special Olympics.

Thank you very much for your support this season and for the past 16 years!John

A few programs and specials to be aware of as we go into the fall:

After going on staff with Cobra in the spring of 2011, I designed a club-fitting program in which clients paid a reduced fitting fee of $30, and as soon as I had 12 participants, I gave away a set of fitted irons. I have given away three FREE sets of fitted Cobra irons this year! I still need a couple of participants in the last group of the season, and even if you don't win a free set, I will have your specifications on file when the time comes to order your next set of clubs. My contact info is below, so please let me know if you would like to be included, either now or next spring.

A fall special on adult lessons: I have a package of 3-lessons that's usually reserved for junior golfers ($115). Between now and the end of November I am offering the 3-lesson package to adults. This is a 15% savings from the normal rates. There's still some great weather for lessons, so let me know if you would like to join me on the range.

JohnJunior Golf: this weekend marks the beginning of the 10th season of my junior program, The Tournament Players' Series (TPS). Weather permitting, the junior group (with brackets for kids aged 5-18) meets almost weekly between now and next August. For more information, or to get a junior golfer involved, please check out a description  of the TPS on this site (http://rogersgolf.net/instruction-tps.htm) and let me know if you want to be on the email list announcing our events.

Finally, please check out the array of on-line options that are new this year. I split my website into two entities: one, Golf Things Considered, is more of a blog format with golf articles and a new "Tip Sheet". The first four tips on the Tip Sheet are about the short-game, so help your scoring by doing a little reading! This website, RogersGolf, has information on instruction and junior programs, etc. that are more relevant in the Shenandoah Valley. I also have a new golf page on Facebook (daily articles, tips, golf quotes, and announcements), and have posted a few Tweets as well. Please find me on all these venues--the addresses are below.

So, I look forward to seeing you at Lakeview soon, as well as on-line! Again, thank you for a great season, and please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you enjoy the game of golf even more!
