QUICK UPDATE — Jay did not compete much at the professional level in 2011 as he sought sponsorship, though he did fire back to back 69s in a Hooters Winter Series event in January to finish 36th. He also returned to Pinehurst in October 2011 for the first stage of Q-School (where he finished second in 2010), but he finished T-51 and did not advance to the second stage.

 

Amateur and College Highlights

• Won the Virginia State Amateur Championship in 2002 and 2003

• All-CAA for James Madison University in 2003 and 2004

• CAA Player of the Year, and JMU Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2004

• Won one collegiate tournament, and finished 2nd six times

• Set the JMU career scoring record from 2001-2004 (72.5)

 

Professional Highlights

• Won his third start as a professional, a Hooters Tour event in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 2004

• Has won over $100,000 on the Hooters Tour from 2004-2008

• Had a 1st and 2nd place finish on the Pepsi Tour in 2006

• Qualified for, and shared the first-round lead in, a Nationwide Tour Event in Richmond, Virginia in 2007

• Shot 66 twice to qualify for the PGA Tour Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina in 2008

• Three wins, a 2nd, and a 4th place on the Hooters Carolina Series in 2008

• Won the Charlie Webster Match Play tournament in Myrtle Beach in December 2008

• Over $35,000 in winnings in 2008 and beginning of 2009

• Made 8 of 11 cuts with a scoring average of 69.93 on the 2009 Tarheel Tour
